CHARITABLE PLANNING
Let NPT guide you in all areas of your charitable giving.
- Plan your giving
- Follow your passion
- Put it into practice
National Philanthropic Trust (NPT) is an independent public charity dedicated to increasing philanthropy in our society. We help individuals, families, companies and organizations pursue their philanthropic interests, by removing administrative burdens and maximizing the effectiveness of their giving.
We offer donors a variety of giving options including:
Donor Advised Funds
A simple, powerful and highly personal approach to giving.
A donor advised fund (DAF) is a charitable giving vehicle in which an individual or family makes an irrevocable contribution of personal assets to a public charity. At any time thereafter, donors can recommend grant distributions to charitable organizations. A donor advised fund provides many benefits to donors including:
- Donors may name their donor advised fund account in honor of their family, company, in memory of someone, or after a specific cause.
- Accepting the widest variety of assets: NPT can accept the widest range of gifts of any charitable program, providing donors greater value and more giving opportunities.
- Providing an immediate tax deduction, and maximum tax benefit.
- Flexible grantmaking: Donors can receive recognition or make anonymous grants.
- Streamlining giving: We keep track of each donor's grants, amounts, and giving history.
- Eliminating capital gains on long-term appreciated securities.
- The potential to give more over time: Assets in a donor advised fund grow tax free.
- Ability to create a legacy: Future generations can advised the fund in perpetuity.

Supporting Organizations
The ideal alternative to a private foundation.
Supporting Organizations operate like private foundations but with the tax benefits of public charities. A Supporting Organization offers individuals and their families the opportunity for:
- Unique Identity: Select your own name, identity, mission, and governing structure.
- Investment Flexibility: Participate in deciding how the charitable assets are invested.
- Grantmaking Focus: Participate directly in selecting grant recipients who will benefit from your philanthropy.
- Legacy: Establish traditions of giving and wise stewardship with future generations.
