Missions

Each of NPT's field of interest funds will pursue a distinct grantmaking mission.  Please review this information to determine which fund(s) you would like to support.

Back In Action Fund
The Back in Action fund will assist vulnerable populations throughout the United States during times of crisis or great need.  Grants from this fund could include, but are not limited to, disaster relief and recovery.  The Back in Action fund will provide grants to established and innovative organizations that alleviate both the immediate and long term suffering of at-risk populations.  Grants will emphasize the restoration of productivity and self sufficiency for the well being of effected communities and individuals.

Children in Crisis Fund
Using experts and expertise developed while administering the September 11th Children’s Fund, NPT is launching a new field of interest fund for children who have suffered great loss or trauma.

The Children in Crisis Fund will promote the long-term emotional, mental and physical health of children affected by sudden tragedy or disaster.  This fund will support programs for underserved children that will include, but are not limited to trauma, bereavement and grief counseling; ongoing mental health support; tutoring; and mentoring.  Efforts will be made to insure that grants from the fund are coordinated to compliment and extend the reach of existing programs.

The globalislocal Partnership Fundsm
The mission of The globalislocal Partnership Fundsm is to invest in organizations creating greater life opportunities and increasing basic human security for children and families who make up the 4 billion people living on less than $4 a day.  The fund is creating the ultimate “Human Prosperity Portfolio,” by investing in elements essential for a productive life such as access to economic opportunity, education, health, water, energy, gender equality, environmental stability, and civil society.

Grants from the fund are reviewed and recommended by a global advisory council, chaired by former NPT Board member, Elizabeth Wallace Ellers.

NPT Breast Cancer Fund
The NPT Breast Cancer Fund is a field of interest fund created to positively impact the battle to defeat breast cancer by supporting and promoting non-profit, community-based organizations that are fighting the disease.  The fund will do this by providing unrestricted awards to groups that clearly demonstrate their effectiveness in delivering education and prevention, screening and/or care programs to communities that they are dedicated to helping.

An advisory committee of 8 people, designated by the NPT Board of Trustees, currently reviews and makes grant recommendations from this fund. The fund has thus far granted over $6 million to breast cancer programs and initiatives throughout the United States.
