Benefits

  • Select your own name, identity, mission and governing structure
  • Determining your own investment policy 
  • Create grant guidelines and giving strategies
  • Have no limits on further generations of successor board members to the fund
  • Exemption from all private foundation excise taxes and administrative requirements
  • No annual minimum grant distributions required

NPT Administrative Services

  • Prepare and submit necessary state and federal tax filings 
  • Provide required number of board members
  • Provide meeting space
  • Maintain lists and other computer records
  • Prepare and print documents and customized stationary, if desired
  • Staff board meetings; provide minutes and follow-up
  • Prepare and distribute press releases about grants 
  • Directors and Officers liability insurance

NPT Grantmaking Services

  • Assist in preparing grant guidelines
  • Print grant guidelines and grant application forms
  • Process grants
  • Monitor grant results
  • Prepare grant denial letters
  • Review grant proposals and prepare recommendations for board meetings
  • A program officer to oversee grantmaking (subject to additional fees)

NPT Financial Services

  • Arrange for investment management and custody
  • Provide financial oversight and reports, including annual budgets
  • Review investment performance and investment fees
  • Prepare sample investment policies including asset classes and allocations
  • Prepare a sample spending policy
  • Prepare Form 990
  • Prepare checks
  • Prepare custom investment portfolio and financial statement 

What's not included?

  • Costs of marketing materials (for example, separate corporate graphic identity, website, annual report)
